FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team is back in action this weekend at the Carlson Center as they welcome #9/10 Omaha.
Last Time Out
Back-to-back bye weeks allowed the Nanooks to get home and rest following a three-week road trip. After their season-opener with Clarkson at the Carlson Center, the Nanooks hit the road for matchups with Omaha, Clarkson and Cornell. Unfortunately, the Nanooks put up good numbers, but could not find the win-column. They fell in all six road games. Despite the losses, the Nanooks had their opportunities. They fell to then #13/14 Omaha on the road in OT, 2-3 and lost both games at #16/15 Cornell in OT, 2-3 and 0-1.

Looking Ahead
Following this weekend, the Nanooks will head to Minnesota Duluth for a matchup with the #4/4 team in the country. After that, they'll return home for a four-game series against RPI.
Heroes Weekend
The Nanooks will host a Heroes Weekend on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Nanooks will recognize healthcare workers and on Saturday, we will recognize local first responders. Puck-drops and intermission games including those recognized will be held on both nights.
Omaha
The Mavs swept the Nanooks in Omaha last time these two met. They grabbed an OT win over Alaska before putting the 'Nooks away quickly in the second game. Since then, the Mavs have climbed their way into the top-10 of the USCHO poll while moving up to number 10 in the USA Hockey poll.
The Mavericks are coming off of a weekend-split at St. Cloud State. They lost to the #1 team in the country 1-5 before rebounding and knocking-off the top team 3-2 in OT.
