@NanooksSwim Competes at Lion's Cup

Los Angeles, CA – The Alaska Nanooks swim team competed Friday Jan. 11 and Saturday Jan. 12 in the Lion's Cup at the LMU Aquatic Center in Los Angeles, California.

Coaches Comments
"The girls swam very well at the Lions Cup this weekend. The team did an excellent job of getting up and racing, even during the unfavorable weather during the second session and after completing an extremely challenging two week training trip. Looking forward to our next dual meet on January 25th and 26th against Loyola Marymount University at the Patty Center," - Associate head coach Becca Weiland said on Saturday.

Sophomore Oda Bygdnes placed first in five events, including the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.51), the 100 individual medley (59.59), the 200 IM (2:11.54), the 100 butterfly (57.80) and the 400 medley relay (4:01.28).

Sophomore Erica Kakazu won four events, the 200 medley relay (1:49.51), the 100 backstroke (1:00.20), the 200 backstroke (2:09.94) and the 400 medley relay (4:01.28).

Freshman Kaia Norbye won three events, including the 200 medley relay (1:49.51), the 100 breaststroke (1:08.60) and the 400 medley relay (4:01.28).

Freshman Wanlaya Jarupakorn won both team relays, the 200 medley relay (1:49.51) and the 400 medley relay (4:01.28).

Freshman Jessica Williamson swam a lifetime-best of 1:04.84 in the 100 IM.

The Alaska Nanook Swim team will return home to face Loyola Marymount at the Patty Center Pool Friday Jan. 25th at 6pm and Saturday Jan. 26 in a dual meet.
