FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks swim team downed the competition in their first home meet in almost a month, defeating the Biola University Eagles 122-83 at the Patty Center Pool on Friday night. Alaska improves to 2-1 on the season with Friday's victory.
Coach's Comments
"The girls swam exceptional tonight. We are at the height of our training right now and we were still able to swim lights-out. I'm excited to see what our team can achieve in the pool tomorrow." – Associate head coach Rebecca Weiland said on Friday.
Alaska Highlights
	- The Nanooks took first in nine of their 11 events against the Eagles, only falling short in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
- Redshirt-freshman Kaia Norbye won three events against the Eagles, including the 400-yard medley relay, the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke.
- Sophomore Oda Bygdnes also placed first in three separate events on Friday, including the 400-yard medley relay, the 50-yard free and the 100-yard butterfly.
	
		- Bygdnes' 100-fly time of 00:57.10 ranks her within the top-16 in NCAA Division II.
 
- Sophomore Erika Kakazu was the only other Alaska player to sweep three events on the night, including the 400-yard medley relay, the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard IM.
- Senior Cassidy Heaton placed first in two events, the 1,000-yard free and the 500-yard free.
Next Time Out
The Alaska Nanooks swim team will host the Biola Eagles at the Patty Center Pool again tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 17), starting at 12pm AKST.
