FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks swim team officially opens the 2018-19 season this weekend, hosting Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference (PCSC) for Azusa Pacific at the Patty Center Pool this Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20.
Last Time Out
Earlier this month, the Alaska Nanooks swim team hosted their annual Blue vs. Gold Pentathlon at the Patty Center Pool with the Gold Team mounting a 19-24 victory over the Blue Team. Sophomore
Oda Bygdnes was the winner of the IM Pentathlon with the lowest combined time of 5:06.17. In the Freestyle Pentathlon, senior
Cassidy Heaton was the swimmer who posted the lowest possible time of 9:01.96.
Where to Watch & Listen
The Alaska Nanooks swim team's meet against Azusa will be streamed through the Alaska Nanooks Stretch Internet Portal in the link posted above. Only Friday's meet will be streamed due to conflicts with home volleyball. There will be no play-by-play broadcaster but meet sounds will be available.

Coaching Staff
The 2018-19 season will be the last for longtime Alaska Nanooks Swimming head coach
Scott Lemley, who will retire at the conclusion of the season. Stepping in this year is associate head coach
Rebecca Weiland, who comes to the Nanooks after a successful coaching stint at the University of Wisconsin and an extremely notable career at the University of Minnesota.

Five newcomers join the Nanooks this season, including
Camille Dayton (Big Lake, Alaska),
Wanlaya Jarupakorn (Anchorage, Alaska),
Whitney McArthur (Sitka, Alaska),
Kaia Norbye (Karasjok, Norway) and
Jessica Williamson (North Pole, Alaska).

Conversely, seven of Alaska's swimmers from the 2017-18 season return to anchor the Nooks, including sophomore
