Jagger Francom Becomes the Latest Addition for Men's Hoops

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team has announced another signing this week. Jagger Francom becomes the fourth signing for the men's hoops team. Francom, a 6-8 center from Millville, Utah, joins the Nanooks after spending time at Trevecca Nazarene University in Murfreesboro Pike, Tenn.

"The addition of Jagger, a 6-8 skilled big man who is eligibility-wise a freshman, is a huge deal for our program and future," said head coach Frank Ostanik. "Jagger has great feet, exceptional hands, and the potential to impact our team at a high level. We have not only been looking for size, but also for young players with size who can be developed. Through the recruiting process, I loved listening to Jagger talk about basketball. It was obvious that despite having back-to-back redshirt years, he is not only hungry to play, but to continue to improve and get better." Through two seasons at TNU, Francom did not appear in a game.

The Ridgeline High School graduate was stellar in his senior season. Francom averaged 15.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game under coach Kyle Day at Ridgeline and earned First Team All-Region honors. Alongside that, he was an eight-time Player of the Game and was selected to play in the Utah Top 50 League during both his junior and senior seasons. In 2023, he attended the NCAA Basketball Academy.

"The common denominator amongst the three big men we have signed is that they are all great young men who love the game of basketball," added Ostanik. "Two years ago, the idea that we would have three big men over 6'8" who fit that description seemed far-fetched. For the first time since I have taken over as head coach, I think we have a basketball team that can play a variety of different styles and is still competitive. I'm hopeful the addition of size to our roster will help us score more efficiently at the rim and defend better around the rim. If we do, we should be an even better team than we were last year."
