FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team has announced the signing of transfer guard James Bodily. Bodily, a 6-4 guard, hails from Bancroft, Idaho, and spent two seasons with Eastern Oregon University in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC).
"James is going to be a huge addition to our program," said head coach
Frank Ostanik. "He's demonstrated the ability to not only score at a high level, but to do so with exceptional efficiency in a very good league. James' ability to score from all areas of the court will be especially impactful in helping stretch the floor, allowing every player on our team to be more effective. For us to take the next step as a program, we need to be more efficient offensively, and James will not only provide greater efficiency but will also create greater spacing and allow for his teammates to be more efficient as well."
Bodily began his college career at Idaho State University. He appeared in six games as a freshman before joining Eastern Oregon. At EOU, he appeared in 59 career games, averaged 11.7 points and 2.7 rebounds with 44 assists, 24 steals and 11 blocked shots. 2025-26 was a career year for Bodily as he averaged 14.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 31 games. He shot 49.4% from the floor (156-316) and 41.4% from three with 75 made threes. In addition, he was an 85.5% free-throw shooter, missing just nine on the season. He dished out 29 assists, picked up 17 steals, and blocked eight shots. In the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament, he posted a 30-point, seven-rebound effort against LSU-Alexandria to help EOU advance.
He was a 2025-26 CCC All-Conference First Team selection alongside a CCC Academic All-Conference pick, and an NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete and CSC All-District selection.
Bodily attended North Gem High School and was a state champion.
"James has improved every year he has been at the collegiate level," added Ostanik. "While he had an exceptional year last year, I expect him to take another big step forward this season. It's exciting to think about how our team could look with James joining a team that has added quality size and has three returning starters. We have the potential to be a team that is not only highly competitive, but also very fun to watch."
Additional signings will be announced this week.
