Nanooks Fire Season-High Aggregate in Regular-Season Finale

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks rifle team shot a new season-high aggregate today at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range in the Patty Center. The 4747 is the Nanooks' best score this year, and their second 4740+ performance of the year. 

The Nanooks had five athletes in the individual top 10. They were led by Teagan Perkowski. The sophomore fired an 1189-90x to take second place behind TCU's Katie Zaun (1193-91x). Marshall Schmidt took fourth with an 1187-78x, Noah Meierotto followed in fifth with an 1185-87x, and Lucie Kissenberger took sixth with an 1185-87x. Sadie Palfrey was the final 'Nook in the top 10 with a ninth-place finish and aggregate score of 1182-83x. 

Alaska won the smallbore discipline, firing a season-high 2362. TCU followed in second with a 2361 and UT Martin fired a 2292. Perkowski was the top shooter in smallbore, posting a 595-41x. Lucie Kissenberger followed in third, shooting a 591-40x. Marshall Schmidt was the final Alaska shooter in the top five, posting a smallbore score of 590-30x and was followed by Amanda Pettersen in sixth with a 589-36x. Noah Meierotto shot a 586-34x, good for ninth. Julianna Hays was the sixth Nanook in the top 10, placing 10th with a score of 586-34x. Matthew Stout took 13th with a 583-31x, Sadie Palfrey took 14th with a 583-31x, and Tobias Bernhoft-Osa took 16th with a 581-24x. 

In air rifle, the Nanooks shot a 2385, their third best score in the discipline this season. They took second behind TCU's 2389 and beat UT Martin's 2337. Noah Meierotto and Sadie Palfrey led the way in air rifle. Meierotto took first with a 599-53x while Palfrey followed in second with a 599-52x. Tobias Bernhoft-Osa shot a 598-50x to place fifth and Marshall Schmidt placed seventh with a 597-48x. 

Alaska placed 13-16th with Teagan Perkowski shooting a 594-49x, Julianna Hays shooting a 594-49x, Lucie Kissenberger shooting a 594-47x, and Amanda Pettersen shooting a 592-48x. Matthew Stout was the final Nanooks shooter in air and fired a strong 591-47x, good for 18th. 

What's Next
Alaska officially enters the postseason and will next shoot at the PRC Championships at Ole Miss on Feb. 7-8. They'll follow that up with their NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 21 against UTEP.
