FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks rifle team knocked off Akron and UAB in a three-team match on Saturday in the E.F. Horton Rifle Range. With the pair of wins, the Nanooks move to 5-1 on the season.
Six individual Nanooks shooters were in the top 10 today. Akron claimed the other four spots.
Marshall Schmidt led all shooters, posting an aggregate score of 1189-90x.
Noah Meierotto was the next Alaska shooter in the top 10, finishing fourth with an aggregate score of 1183-73x.
Marley Bowden followed in fifth with an 1182-80x.
Lucie Kissenberger placed sixth with an aggregate score of 1180-73x and
Hannah Dufresne was seventh with an 1180-73x.
Teagan Perkowski was the final Nanook in the top 10, taking 10th with an 1172-74x.
In smallbore, the Nanooks outshot Akron and UAB 2352-2346-2286. Maddie Allen of Akron shot the high smallbore score of the day with a 591-35x.
Noah Meierotto followed in second to lead the 'Nooks with a 591-30x.
Marshall Schmidt took third in the smallbore standings with a 590-40x.
Lucie Kissenberger,
Hannah Dufresne,
Marley Bowden, and
Sadie Palfrey took fifth through eighth. Kissenberger shot a 587-29x, Dufresne posted a 586-28x, Bowden shot a 585-29x, and Palfrey fired a 584-29x.
Teagan Perkowski finished 12th in smallbore with a 580-27x.
Nicole Berger and
Nate Kauffman took 14th and 15th with scores of 577-25x and 577-23x, respectively.
Matthew Stout rounded out the Nanooks shooters with a 571-22x.
In air rifle, the Nanooks outshot both opponents 2382-2371-4616.
Marshall Schmidt led the way in air with a 599-50x.
Marley Bowden followed in second, shooting a 597-51x.
Nate Kauffman placed fourth in air rifle, shooting a 594-48x.
Hannah Dufresne followed in sixth with a 594-45x and
Matthew Stout,
Lucie Kissenberger, and
Teagan Perkowski rounded out the top 10 scores. Stout took eighth with a score of 593-44x, Kissenberger placed ninth with a 593-44x, and Perkowski took 10th with a 592-47x.
Noah Meierotto placed 11th in air rifle with a 592-43x.
Sadie Palfrey and
Nicole Berger were the final Nanooks in air rifle. Palfrey took 15th with a score of 586-35x and Berger took 19th with a 577-33x.
Alaska outshot Akron in aggregate 4734-4717 and they outshot UAB 4734-4616.
The Nanooks return to action in two weeks, again at home, against Air Force and Kentucky.
