Women’s Basketball Announces Addition of Nya Bostic out of Florida A&M

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball program has added another player to the roster ahead of the 2025-26 season in Nya Bostic. Bostic, a guard out of Decatur, Ga., joins the 'Nooks after spending the past two seasons at Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Fla.

"We're excited to welcome Nya to the Nanook family," said head coach Michael Ricks. "She's an experienced guard who plays with toughness and a strong physical presence. Nya brings maturity, confidence, and the ability to be a steady influence in the backcourt. Her versatility and winning mindset will make her a valuable piece of our program."

Bostic appeared in 15 games in 2023-24, averaging 1.1 points in 13.2 minutes per game. She knocked down 31.8% of her field goal attempts, grabbed 23 rebounds, dished five assists and tallied three steals. Last season, she played in 16 contests and once again averaged 1.1 points per game on 36.8% shooting. She finished with 20 boards, three assists and five steals.

"I am excited to announce my commitment to the University of Alaska Fairbanks," said Bostic. "Grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to contributing on and off the court as a Nanook!"

Further signing announcements will be made shortly.
