The Nanooks are coming off a third-place finish in the Nordic standings at the RMISA Championships on Feb. 21-22, totaling 307 points over the two-day championships in Anchorage. The men tied for first in the Nordic standings with 157 points, while the women came in third with 150 points.
Day one saw them race in the 7.5k classic and take fourth in the Nordic standings. Kendall Kramer and Cole Flowers came within seconds of securing a podium position, with both missing out by seconds. Kramer ended her race strong, but could not overtake Utah's Erica Laven for third, finishing 1.7 seconds off a podium spot. Tabitha Williams built off her podium finish in her previous race, placing fifth in the women's race. On the men's side, Flowers got off to a rapid start, posting a 6:31.1 on the opening lap, the fastest by 3.4 seconds. However, he ended the second lap in third after recording the sixth-fastest time on the middle lap of the race. He would once again post the sixth-fastest time on the final lap to finish in 20:30.1, just falling out of a podium position by 0.8 seconds.
Alaska raced in the 20k freestyle to close out the RMISA Championships, with Philipp Moosmayer claiming his first collegiate victory in the race. Moosmayer began his race by posting the ninth-fastest time on the opening lap and crossed the 10k checkpoint in 10th place with a time of 26:04.3. He would slowly make up ground, recording the seventh-fastest time of the fourth lap before logging the third and fourth-fastest times on the final two laps, setting himself up for a photo finish with Colorado's Hugo Hinckfuss, nabbing the top spot by 0.2 seconds. Ben Dohlby nearly made it a 1-2 finish for the 'Nooks, coming in just 0.1 seconds behind Hinckfuss and 0.3 seconds behind Moosmayer. Kramer took second in the women's race, finishing just 0.4 seconds off of first place. Williams followed her fifth-place result the previous day by finishing sixth in the 20k freestyle.
