Dohlby’s Eighth-Place Finish Highlights 7.5k Classic at the Denver Invitational

MINTURN, Colo. - The Nanooks Nordic skiing teams began the Denver Invitational on Saturday morning, racing in the powdery snow and participating in a 7.5k classic individual start at the Maloit Park Trails in Minturn, Colo.

The Nanooks only had two women competing in the race, with Rosie Fordham, Kendall Kramer and Tabitha Williams all racing at the U23 World Championships in Schilpario, Italy. The three skiers recorded outstanding results in the 10k freestyle this morning, taking second, fourth and 19th place, respectively.

At the Denver Invitational, Elsie Weiss led the way for the Nanooks with a 20th-place result. She finished her race in 30:14.7, nearly six seconds in front of the next finisher. Aila Berrigan followed in 23rd, skiing to a time of 30:45.2. The two Nanooks earned the team 34 points, performing well technically with the conditions.

The men had several standout performances, highlighted by a top-eight finish from Ben Dohlby to lead the way for the 'Nooks, racing back from being 10th at the 2.5k mark to take eighth place.
