FAIRBANKS - The No. 1 ranked Alaska Nanooks rifle team will compete for their 12th NCAA title at the NCAA Rifle Championships on March 14-15. The NCAA announced their selections on Monday afternoon.

The Nanooks ended their season with a 14-1 record, going 8-1 in PRC action. They began their season with three straight wins over No. 11 Ohio State on Oct. 11 and 12 and No. 7 Air Force on Nov. 9. They fell to No. 5 TCU on Nov. 10, but have not lost since. The season was highlighted by setting a program record for aggregate score in a 4757-4740 victory over No. 3 Kentucky on Feb. 1. They tied their air rifle program record with a 2390 showing, while Cecelia Ossi posted the Nanooks individual record for aggregate scoring, firing an 1196 in the win. The 'Nooks broke that record at the PRC Championships, firing a 4758 aggregate score to secure their fourth PRC title. They also posted a program record for air rifle with a score of 2391. Other highlights included Elijah Spencer's two perfect scores, firing 600s in air rifle against No. 8 Air Force on Jan. 26 and UTEP in the NCAA Qualifier last weekend.

Ossi leads the 'Nooks in aggregate average this season, posting an 1186.923. She also leads the team in smallbore average with a 590.923. Both these averages rank fifth in the NCAA. Spencer's 597.308 air rifle average paces the squad and ranks fourth in the NCAA.

The championships will be held at the Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky. Start time is set for 4:45 a.m. AKT on both days, with the championships beginning with smallbore on day one and concluding with air rifle on day two. Fans can watch the championships live on NCAA.com. The other seven teams to make the cut were West Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia Southern, TCU, Ole Miss, Murray State and Air Force.
