KENOSHA, Wisc. - The Nanooks' cross country season officially came to a close on Saturday, Nov. 22, as freshman Dexter Delaney represented Alaska at the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Championships in Kenosha, Wisc. The meet was hosted by UW-Parkside at the Wayne Denehl Cross Country Course.

Delaney competed in a field of 259 runners and finished 130th overall. He posted a 10k time of 32:02.5 with an average pace of 5:10 per mile. After opening with a 3:00.2 split through the first kilometer, he passed the 2.2k mark at 6:49.9. He continued to hold strong over the final stretch, coming through the 8k and 9.3k checkpoints at 25:28.1 and 29:54.1 before crossing the finish line in 32:02.5.

"Dexter had a tremendous season," said head coach Conrad Haber. "He achieved a lot of milestones within a short timeframe and gained valuable experience at the national meet that he'll be able to build on for years to come."

Delaney's historic freshman campaign concluded with his appearance at Nationals after earning All-Region and All-Conference honors, as well as being named the GNAC Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year.

"This season has been an incredible experience that far exceeded the expectations I had coming into it," Delaney said. "To qualify for Nationals as a freshman was a dream come true. I'm extremely proud of this fall and thankful for the teammates, coaches, and family who supported me along the way. I can't wait for next year!"

Wingate ended up winning the team national championship with a score of 62. Adams State took second with 71 points, and Colorado School of Mines took third with 121 points. Kidus Begashaw of Adams State won the individual national championship with a winning time of 29:38.8.
