Last Time Out
Dexter Delaney continued his historic freshman season for the Nanooks men's team. Not only did Delaney place in the top 10, but he also earned the first-ever All-Region finish for the Nanooks since joining the GNAC in 2001. Delaney placed seventh, leading the Nanooks with a time of 29:45.5.
GNAC Freshman of the Year
Dexter Delaney led the Nanooks in the men's 8k GNAC Championships race. The freshman used a strong surge in the final 1k to grab a top 10 finish, the first-ever GNAC All-Conference finish for the Alaska Nanooks men's cross country team since joining the GNAC in 2001. "Dexter had a historic race, achieving several firsts for the Nanooks men's program," saidÂ
Conrad Haber after the men's race this morning. "We thought the race might be tactical, so Dexter remained patient and let the race develop before digging deep over the last 1000m to secure a top 10 finish."Â
Delaney's finish also earned him the 2025 GNAC Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year, another program first for the Nanooks men's team.
A Look at the Course
UW–Parkside's nationally recognized cross country course sits on a 700-acre wooded campus between Kenosha and Racine. Known for hosting major championships, it was home to the NAIA National Championships for nearly three decades, the NCAA Division II Nationals multiple times, the TAC Nationals, and a wide variety of Division I, II, and III conference championships. It also hosts the annual Foot Locker Midwest Regional.
Designed specifically for cross country (and skiing), the course features grass and natural paths with no pavement, clear marking for all race distances, and terrain that is primarily flat with light rolling hills. The venue can safely start over 700 runners, has wide, minimal turns, and allows spectators and coaches multiple viewing points. The finish area holds 500+ athletes.
