FRESNO, Calif. – The Alaska Nanooks swimming team recorded another dual win against Fresno Pacific on Saturday morning, claiming a 126-71 victory to move to 2-0 in dual meets this season.

The day began with the 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Janci Pangburn, Dorka Dancsok, Cosima Schmiedel and Talia Wentz finished first, posting a 1:55.21. In the 1000-yard freestyle, Kitti Marton led the way in the long-distance event for the 'Nooks, following her wins in the 500 and 1650-yard freestyle on Friday. Marton finished with an 11:24.55, and Macy Ahrens (11:33.37) and Guielsie Borbon (11:46.97) locked out the top three spots in the event. The Sunbirds would take first in the following two events, the 200 and 50-yard freestyle. Schmiedel was the Nanooks' highest finisher in the 200, placing third with a 2:04.25, and Wentz took second in the 50 with a 25.33.

Dancsok secured the top finish in the following event, finishing the 400-yard IM in 4:43.46, over 20 seconds ahead of second place. Schmiedel followed with another convincing victory, completing the 200-yard butterfly in 2:15.59, nearly 17 seconds in front of the pack. Pangburn (55.07) just missed out on a win in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing 0.38 seconds behind FPU's Jillian Lambert. However, the 'Nooks locked out the top spot in the final four events of the meet, with Charisma Watkins winning the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:21.54, before Marton and Dancsok both notched their second wins of the day. Marton grabbed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:22.06, while Dancsok's 2:28.13 gave her the victory in the 200-yard breaststroke. The meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay, which saw the relay team of Wentz, Giorgia Merlo, McKenzie Fazio and Pangburn finish in first after swimming to a time of 1:41.38.

The Nanooks are back in the Patty Center Pool for dual meets against Puget Sound on Oct. 24-25. They will stay in Fairbanks for two more duals against Simon Fraser the following weekend.
