ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Kendall Kramer raced to a first-place finish on Saturday in the U.S. Nationals 20k classic mass start, beating out Utah's Erica Laven with a total time of 58:17.2 to take the top spot in the race by 2.4 seconds.
Joining Kramer was the other finisher for the Nanooks, Aila Berrigan, whose time of 1:09:34.5 put her in 22nd place in the race. Those two finishes gave the Nanooks 54 points for sixth place in the women's 20k classic.
On the men's side, Ben Dohlby secured a top-10 result, completing his race in 52:56.3. He finished 3.1 seconds ahead of teammate Philipp Moosmayer, who took 11th place after posting a 52:59.4. Aidan Hay was the final Nanook to cross the finish line, placing 24th in the 20k race with a 57:11.2. The men also finished with 54 points on the day, putting them in fifth place.
Alaska sits at 231 points over the two races at the UAA Invitational, ranking fifth.
The Nanooks are back in action on Tuesday for one more race at the U.S. Nationals, competing in the skate sprint at Kincaid Park.
