MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Nanooks rifle team fired a 2337 on Friday, March 8 in the smallbore discipline. With that score, the Nanooks currently sit in fourth-place heading into the final day of the 2024 NCAA Rifle Championships.
Day One Standings

Alaska was led by Sára Karasová who fired a relay one high-score of 593. In kneeling, she posted a 199 before cleaning prone. In standing she posted a 194 to wrap-up her 593 score. This 593 qualified her for the individual finals.
Rachael Charles and
Elli Spencer joined Karasová in relay one and both fired a 579. Charles' 579 saw a 188 in kneeling, 197 in prone and 194 in standing. Spencer posted a 190 in kneeling, 197 in prone and 192 in standing.
In the second relay, the Nanooks had
Marina Gonzalez Mazo and
Akihito Shimizu shoot. Shimizu fired a 583 to lead the relay for Alaska. He shot a 191 in kneeling, 196 in prone and 196 in standing. Gonzalez Mazo fired a 193 in kneeling, 196 in prone and 193 in standing to post her 582 smallbore score.
In the individual smallbore final, Karasová took seventh-place, firing a score of 408.6.
The 'Nooks are back in action tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. AKST. The relay assignments will be the same as Charles, Karasová and Spencer will begin at 5:00 a.m. in relay one and Gonzalez Mazo and Shimizu will shoot at 7:15 a.m. AKST in relay two.
