Nanooks to Race at NCAA West Regionals

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams head to Montana this week for the 2024 DII Cross Country West Regional Championships which will take place on Saturday, November 9 at Amend Park and will be hosted by Montana State University Billings. The men's 10k will begin at 8:00 a.m. AKST, with the women following immediately after in the 6k at 9:15 a.m AKST.

USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
With the most important races coming up in the season, all eyes are on the polls! The Nanook women find themselves ranked fifth among 10 teams in the West Region according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Regional Rankings that were posted on October 29th.

Three men's teams represent the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in this series of rankings being Western Washington (2), Northwest Nazarene (8) and Alaska Anchorage (10). The Nanook men look to catch the heels of these common competitors this weekend, aiming to prove their ability to overcome teams they have previously beat this season.

Athlete Spotlight
After her recent success at GNAC Championships where she took first place for the third year straight, Kendall Kramer continues to show her strength for the blue and gold. The win helped earn her GNAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year and sealed her name in GNAC history as the second woman in the conference's history to win three individual titles. She has proven herself to be one to watch as she looks to beat last year's West Regionals time of 20:29.8.

With every race that occurs, Ben Dohlby continues to shave off time, marking new personal records in the 8k. The last time you saw him, Dohlby marked a new PR with a time of 25:51.30, but after his appearance at GNAC Championships, he has a new time to beat of 25:45.30 in the 8k! Dohlby's career best in the 10k lies at 33:26.9, which he raced in the 2023 NCAA West Regionals, so if there is anyone to watch as we go into the weekend, it's record-breaker Ben Dohlby.
