FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks men's hoops team will host the Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 5:15 p.m. - all fans are invited to wear black as part of the black-out theme.

Last Time Out
Alaska is yet to play in 2024 - their last game was on Dec. 17-18 when they took part in the Big Island Holiday Classic at the University of Hawaii Hilo. On Dec. 17, they defeated the host-team, Vulcans, 64-61 in overtime.
Jaycson Bereal, Jr. led the way for the Nanooks with 14 points while
Demarcus Hall-Scriven and
Tyriq Luke added a dozen.
TJ Doman added 10 in the victory. After the Vulcans came back in the second-half to force the overtime period,
Paul Johnson connected for a corner-three to give the 'Nooks the victory. After going 0-5 on the night, Johnson connected on the shot that mattered most to propel the 'Nooks to victory.
The next night, the Nanooks played San Francisco State and fell 62-58.
Abdullahi Mohamed and
Demarcus Hall-Scriven led the way with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Alaska held a one-point lead at the halftime break before SFS outscored them by five in the second to snag the win.
Demarcus Hall-Scriven was named to the Big Island Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team for his efforts in the two games.

- The Nanooks are riding a one-game win streak against UAA after defeating the Seawolves at home last year, 89-79. Since 2013-14, the Nanooks have recorded only two victories against Anchorage.
- Abdullahi Mohamed is leading the Nanooks offensively with 13.2 points per game. He's the only Alaska player averaging double-digits through the first 10 games this season.
- Paul Johnson has moved up the list as he's now averaging 8.3 points per game. He's leading the way for the Nanooks from deep as the junior is 13-40 from deep (32.5%). No other Nanooks player has more than eight made threes.
- Mohamed and Nick Hopkins are the lone Nanooks with five-plus rebounds per game. Mohamed leads the way with 6.6 boards per game while Hopkins follows with 5.3. Mohamed also leads with 26 offensive rebounds while Hopkins has 19.
- Bryan Nguyen leads the way defensively for Alaska as the point guard has a team-high eight steals. Trey Anderson follows with seven.
- The Nanooks have proven to be a second-half team. They've scored a total of 602 points this season with 307 coming in the second half.
- TJ Doman's efficiency has shined through his first 10 games with the Nanooks as the transfer is shooting 57.5% from the floor.

The Nanooks are outrebounding their opponents with a +4.1 rebound margin this season. They are averaging 35.7 rebounds per game while their opponents are averaging 31.6.

As a team, the Nanooks are blocking 3.2 shots per game. Mohamed leads the team with seven while Bereal, Jr. has six on the year. Four other Nanooks have four blocks.

Long Time No See Fairbanks
This will be the Nanooks first home games since early November when they hosted the GNAC/PacWest Challenge. Since then, they've been on the road for eight games and are looking forward to getting back in front of their home crowd. The Nanooks currently sit at 1-1 at home and 2-5 on road games with a 0-1 neutral site record.
Alaska opened up GNAC play on Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 at Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings. They split that road-trip with a victory at SPU and a loss at MSUB.
