MIDWAY, Utah - The Nanooks ski team wrapped up the Utah Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13 with the 10k classic pursuit race. The women's team ended day two with 82 points while the men posted 45 to finish the invitational with 275 and a fourth-place finish.
After the two days, the Nanooks women's team sat in first with 181 points, the best of the Nordic women's teams. They bested Utah who followed in second with 180 points. Colorado took third with 143. Utah took the top spot in the men's standings with 202 points and the Nanooks men's team finished sixth with 94 points on the weekend.Â
Kendall Kramer's impressive weekend continued into the 10k classic after taking first a day ago in the 7.5k freestyle. She walked away with a 10k finish of first and a time of 29:28.7, posting the best total time of the two combined events at 51:24.7 and earning the Nanooks another 40-point performance.
Mariel Pulles was the next Nanooks racer to finish, taking eighth-place in the 10k with a time of 30:39.5 and earning a seventh-place overall finish with a combined time of 53.22.5, good for 25 team points. The final scoring Nanook was
Rosie Fordham who placed 14th-overall after a 32:26.0 time in the 10k pursuit. That gave her a combined time of 54:49.0. Her 14th-place finish was good for 17 points, rounding out the 82 earned by the women's team.Â
Alaska's
Tabitha Williams and
Elsie Weiss were the final women's racers to finish on day two as Williams finished the 10k in 24th with a time of 32:24.5 to round her total combined time to 55:23.5. She finished in 18th-overall after the two events. Weiss was the final Nanooks racer and took 27th-overall. She posted a 33:20.4 in the 10k time to give her a 29th-place finish in the event and a combined two-day time of 57:49.4.
On the men's side it was
Mike Ophoff taking the high-spot for the Nanooks. He finished in 16th-overall earning 17 points. In the 10k he posted a 15th-place finish and time of 26:36.7 for a combined time of 46:46.7.
Christopher Kalev was the next finisher for Alaska, taking 20th. In the 10k, Kalev finished 22nd with a time of 27:35.0, giving him a combined time of 47:28.0 and earning 15 team points. The final scoring racer for Alaska was
Ben Dohlby. He took 28th in the 10k this morning with a time of 27:56.7 and took 25th-overall with a combined time of 48:05.7.Â
Three other Nanooks finished in the men's race as
Jace Peters took 33rd overall with a 10k time of 28:57.2 for a combined time of 50:36.2,
Josh Baurick took 37th with a 10k time of 30:23.1 and a combined time of 52:19.1 and
Aidan Hay took 39th with a 10k time of 31:25.5 and a combined time of 54:02.5.Â
The 'Nooks will return to action on Feb. 2-3 when they head to Colorado for the Colorado Invitational.Â
