FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams return home on Saturday, Sept. 9, for the Nanook Forest Clash against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves. Races will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the Fairbanks Forest Frenzy, a community 3k, followed by the women who will run a 6k at 10:40 a.m., followed by an 8k run by the men's teams at 11:20 a.m..
Fairbanks Forest Frenzy Community 3k
The Nanooks will host a community 3k at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the UAF Running Trails just before the start of the team races. The community 3k is $20 for all. Sign-ups are still open online, but close Friday, Sept. 08. Check-ins begin at 9:00 a.m. for the community runners.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks opened their season racing in Anchorage on Saturday, Aug. 26, in the Seawolf Throwdown. Rosie Fordham, Kendall Kramer and Naomi Bailey swept the top-three finishes on the women's side. Fordham took home GNAC XC Female Athlete of the Week for her performance in Anchorage. Delainey Zock took fifth-place. Tabitha Williams took seventh in her collegiate debut, Teegan Silva took ninth in Anchorage and Sarah Baum and Isabel Baesman took 12th and 13th. The Seawolf Throwdown was Baesman's collegiate debut as well.
On the men's side, Ben Dohlby was the top-finisher, taking fourth in his collegiate debut, with a time of 15:56. Phillipp Moosmayer, Jace Peters, Finn Morley, Ryan Owens, Kona Atkins and Josh Baurick rounded out scoring for the 'Nooks taking seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th with times of 16:54, 16:55, 17:17, 17:52, 17:57 and 18:54.
GNAC Preseason Poll
Both Nanooks teams are looking at surpassing the GNAC Coaches Poll that came out on Aug. 24; the men's team was selected to finish 10th in the GNAC while the Nanooks women's team was picked fourth. Read more on the Preseason Coaches Poll here.
Food Truck Rally
Fans are invited down to the Patty Center parking lot following the cross country meet to enjoy a food truck rally beginning at noon and running until 8:30 p.m. With purchase of food, fans will also receive entry to the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic vollebyall tournament in the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium.
Looking Ahead
Following the Nanooks Forest Clash, the Nanooks will head to Bellingham, Wash. in the Lower-48 for the Bill Roe Classic on Saturday, Sept. 23rd.
