Ski Heads to Anchorage Looking to Maintain the Nordic Cup

ANCHORAGE - The Nanooks will be competing at the Nordic Cup as part of Besh Cup at Kincaid Park. These races are hosted by the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage.

This will open up the Nanooks' 2023-24 season as they prepare to head to the U.S. Nationals in Houghton, Mich. this upcoming January. 

Nordic Cup
Alaska is looking at claiming the Alaska Nordic Cup for the third-straight season. They've claimed it over Alaska Anchorage since the 2021-22 season. Day one, Saturday, will be a classic sprint race. Races will begin at 10:00 a.m. on day one with awards following the completion of each race. Day two, Sunday, will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will feature a freestyle mass start race. 

Spectators are welcome out to Kincaid Park for the races. Awards will follow the completion of each race. There will be a food truck near the scoreboard in the lower parking lot.

New Look 'Nooks
Both the men's side and women's side have three new faces on the roster this season. On the men's side, they welcome Ben Dohlby, Aidan Hay and Jace Peters. On the women's side, they welcoem Luise Graef, Elsie Weiss and Tabitha Williams. Both Eliska Albrigtsen (head coach) and Ben Buck (assistant coach) have returned to the staff for the upcoming 2023-24 season. 

A Look Ahead
The Nanooks will be on the road all of this season, going across the RMISA landscape for their races this season. After the U.S. National Championships, the Nanooks head to Utah on Jan. 12-13, 2024. They'll come home for a few weeks before hitting the road for a two-week trip that'll take them to Colorado (Feb. 2-3, 2024) and Denver (Feb. 9-10, 2024). They race again at the NCAA Regional Championships/RMISA Championships in Bozeman, Mont. before the NCAA Championships in Boulder, Colo. on Mar. 7-9, 2024.
