Kramer Claims West Region Title; Men Finish 22nd, Women Finish Fifth

MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Alaska Nanooks cross country team ran in the muddy NCAA West Regionals hosted by Western Oregon University on Saturday, November 4th. The Nanooks return home with a second consecutive individual winner, as Kendall Kramer won the 6k women's race. 

The women's team took fifth place as a team after Kramer's victory. Rosie Fordham finished second for the Nanooks and sixth overall with a time of 20:57.3. Naomi Bailey, last year's West Regional Champion, finished 19th with a time of 21:32.3. Teegan Silva finished in 83rd with a time of 23:16.4 and Tabitha Williams rounded up the team's result in 105th, finishing in 23:45.2.

Western Washington's women won the team portion with 75 points. The Alaska Nanooks Women's team finished in fifth place with 135 points, missing the top three and a direct team qualification for the National Championships only by three points. 

The men's teams grabbed 22nd as a team to finish up their season in the 10k. The Nanooks ended up in 22nd place. Freshman Ben Dohlby led the men's team, finishing in 100th place with a time of 33.26.6, followed right behind by Philipp Moosmayer in 101st in 33.27.5. Finn Morley was the third runner for the Nanooks in 112th place with a time of 33:59.8. Jace Peters finished in 120th with a time of 34:14.2. Nolan Earnest, 138th, and Ryan Owens, 148th rounded the results for the men's team. Chico State took the team wins for the men with 47 points.  

"Both the men and women today ran phenomenal team races where everyone elevated themselves in a way they haven't done since the start of the season," said coach Conrad Haber. "I couldn't be more proud of what the team did today."

With her win at Regionals, Kendall Kramer directly qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in Joplin, MO, on November 18th, where she will represent the Nanooks.
