Fordham Takes Home GNAC Runner of the Week Honor

GNAC Release (Web Link)

PORTLAND, Ore.
- The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards this afternoon. Alaska's Rosie Fordham grabbed the GNAC Women's Runner of the Week honor after taking first-place at the San Francisco State Invite.

She clocked in a winning time of 21:25.9 on the 6k course to take first in a field of 142 competitors. She finished nearly eight seconds faster than the runner-up, picking up her second win of the season. Her first win of the season came at the Seawolf Throwdown in Anchorage in the Nanooks' first event of the season. "We had been talking about being patient in races and striking at the appropriate time," said Conrad Haber, Nanooks assistant coach, "At this particular race she was towards the front for most of it. Instead of making a move early, she waited until the right time to make a move. That's how she separated herself from the field."

This is also her second GNAC weekly honor of the year. She won the first GNAC Women's Runner of the Week award after winning the Seawolf Throwdown.
