NEW ORLEANS - Alaska cross country runner Rosie Fordham was announced as the USTFCCCA Division II West Region Women's Runner of the Year this morning. This marks the first regional runner of the year honor of her career.
Fordham's most recent outing saw the senior out of Sydney, Australia, take first in the NCAA DII West Regional race last Saturday. Her 19:52.68 was the fastest-ever finish by a GNAC runner at a regional meet, and she finished 14.16 seconds ahead of teammate Kendall Kramer in second.
Additional highlights from her season came at the GNAC Championships when she took runner-up honors in 20:54.3Â and at the Lewis Crossover when her 21:05.20 finishing time placed her fourth among all runners. Fordham also won the Blue/Gold Meet vs. Alaska Anchorage, finishing one second ahead of Kramer and a full minute ahead of the rest of the runners in 21:59.
Fordham looks to finish strong at the NCAA DII Championships, where she will compete on Saturday, November 23, at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif.
