Rifle Heads to Air Force for Two-Day Battle with the Falcons

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Alaska Nanooks rifle team is in Colorado Springs, Colo. at the Air Force Academy taking on the #8-ranked Falcons.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks rifle team is fresh off of two wins at home last weekend. On Jan. 13, the 'Nooks defeated #5 West Virginia with a 4744-4736 final score. On day two, the Nanooks hosted Georgia Southern, Kentucky and West Virginia and took first with a high-score of 4752. WVU followed in second with an aggregate score of 4751, Kentucky shot a 4726 for third and GSU took fourth with an aggregate of 4658.

History Against
The Nanooks have taken the last four head-to-head matchups against the Air Force Academy. In all four of those matches, the Nanooks shot a 4700+ with all four wins coming at home. This is their first trip to the Air Force Academy for a head-to-head matchup since Nov. 24, 2019, a match they dropped to the Falcons 4679-4644.

What's to Come
The Nanooks will have a week off before coming home to host the 2023 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships on Feb. 4-5. Following the conference championships, the Nanooks travel to El Paso, Texas for their 2023 NCAA Qualifier at UTEP before the NCAA Championships in Akron, Ohio on March 10-11, 2023.
