FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks announced the addition of Jordan Kanoe to the men's basketball program for the upcoming 2022-23 season. He joins the Nanooks after spending time at Santa Monica College and Whittier College.
"Jordan will be the lone senior on our roster for the 2022-23 season. We initially recruited Jordan a couple of years ago prior to COVID, so we are fortunate that he has decided to become a Nanook as a senior." Said head coach
Greg Sparling, "Coach Josh Thomas at Santa Monica College did a great job developing Jordan and last season at Whittier College, under Mark Jansen, his talent was evident. He will provide leadership on and off the court. He is very dynamic in the open court and defends at a high level. We will rely on him to guard other teams' best players, which in the GNAC, is a tough task. He is a high flyer and should be able to provide some excitement to the fans."
Kanoe, a 6'5" wing from San Antonio, Texas, spent the 2021-22 season with DIII Whittier College in Whittier, Calif. In 24 games, Kanoe scored 10.6 points per game while shooting 45.9% from the floor and 81.8% from the free-throw line. He grabbed 4.8 rebounds per game, including 1.1 offensive boards per game. He added 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game to his stat line.
He scored a career-high 22 points on Dec. 18, 2021 in a one-point loss to Pacific (Ore.), shooting 7-12 from the field and grabbing six rebounds and blocking a pair of shots.
