FAIRBANKS – The Nanook volleyball team, fresh off of a 2-2 road trip to Hawaii, returns to Alaska for the UAA-hosted Seawolf Invitational at the Alaska Airlines Center on the Alaska Anchorage campus. They will face-off with Central Missouri, UIndy, Biola and Texas A&M Int'l in the three-day tourney.

Last Time Out
The Nanook volleyball team is coming off a 2-2 start to the season in Hawaii at Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific. After opening up their season with a three-set sweep of the Sharks, the 'Nooks dropped a tough five-setter to the Chaminade Swords on Saturday, August 28. They followed up the loss with a rebounding win against the Sharks, once again. Both wins came against HPU. In their final match of the weekend, on Sunday, August 29, the Nanooks lost again in five-sets to Chaminade.
Rankings
The first opponent in Anchorage, Central Missouri, came into the AVCA Preseason rankings at #18. They picked-up 333 adjusted points. Biola made the list as well in the Preseason rankings as they received six votes on two more ballots.
History Books
Cate Whiting officially became the fourth-place holder in career assists after this weekend, moving into sole-possession with 2,865 career assists. She added 151 to her career totals through the first four games of the 2021 season. She currently has an average of 8.9 assists/set and also added 64 digs to her career total of 855, moving her closer to cracking the top-10. Lahra Weber added 39 kills to her career totals but stayed put in fourth-place. She also added 36 digs, giving her 880 career digs, moving her even closer to cracking the top-10. She trails her coach, Meagan Woods by only four.

AveRee Reynolds were chosen for the GNAC Volleyball Preseason Team alongside the Nanooks landing in the fourth-place spot in the GNAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll. This prediction comes after back-to-back fifth place finishes for the 'Nooks in 2018/19. Alaska earned 66 points from votes. Whiting was a 2019 Preseason selection and 2019 GNAC First-Team Selection. Reynolds, in her first year with the 'Nooks in 2019, was a GNAC Honorable Mention Selection and the GNAC Newcomer of the Year.
