FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Junior libero, Dani Dodge of the Alaska Nanooks volleyball team has been named the GNAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Mar. 22. This is her first award in the blue and gold. 
 
Dodge, a transfer from Coffeyville CC, has become a staple in the back-row for the Nanooks this season, picking up 99 digs on the season, 54 of which, came in the last weekend against Northwest Nazarene. In game one against the Nighthawks on Friday, Mar. 19, Dodge tallied 31 digs in the Nanooks five-set victory. In game two, a three-set sweep, Dodge collected 23 more digs, giving her a 6.75 digs per set average. She also picked up 47 receptions, 32 in game one and 15 in game two. 
 
Head coach Brian Scott felt her hard work made her a deserving recipient for this award, "This is a well-deserved award for Dani and the team. Dani puts in the work, responds well to coaches feedback and is constantly pushed by her teammates. We are very proud of what she and her teammates do on a daily basis to make Nanook volleyball better."
 
Dodge, Scott and the rest of the Nanook volleyball team are back in action this weekend on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 26-27 as they get ready to take on Alaska Anchorage in Anchorage.
