FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team will play three times at home this week as they host the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic. Four teams from around the nation will join the 'Nooks in Fairbanks for this season's installment. Alaska Anchorage, Fresno Pacific, Minnesota State, and Tiffin will all play this week in the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks are coming off of a 3-0 road trip to Anchorage last weekend for the UAA Volleyball Invitational. The Nanooks opened up the Invitational with a 3-0 win over Chico State. The next day, the 'Nooks outlasted Texas Woman's University in a five-set win. Alaska wrapped up the perfect trip with another sweep over RV Lenoir-Rhyne.
AVCA Rankings
The Nanooks made no change in the national poll this week. They are No. 16 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll and received 440 points this week. Alaska is the highest ranked GNAC team with Simon Fraser dropping from No. 15 to 19. Central Washington is ranked No. 21, and Western Washington is No. 24. Alaska Anchorage received 11 votes.
All-Tournament Team
Alaska had two student-athletes named to the UAA Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend following their 3-0 showing.
Cynphany Henderson and
Tessa Onaga earned the honors after a trio of strong showings. Henderson led the way with distribution posting 74 assists with 6.73 per set. She added 25 digs for 2.27 per set, eight aces, five kills, and three blocks.
Tessa Onaga was strong in the back row. She had a team-leading 60 digs, good for 5.45 per set. Onaga added 11 assists and three aces in the three victories.

- Tessa Onaga ranks fifth in the nation with 5.88 digs per set. That total also leads the GNAC through the early parts of the season. Her 147 total digs leads the nation and conference.
- Peri Hoshock has 30 total blocks through seven matches. That total is second in the nation and first in the conference.
- Presley Engelauf and Cori Leavitt follow with 25 total blocks each, ranking sixth in the nation.
- Cynphany Henderson is 18th in the nation with 159 assists.
- Haylee Lyons has 77 kills this season. That ranks seventh in the nation and third in the GNAC. Cori Leavitt's 50 puts her eighth in the conference.
- The Nanooks lead the nation in total blocks with 59.5 blocks. They are second in team digs (422), aces (55), and total attacks (889). They are also third in the nation in team kills (313).
Food Truck Rally
The Fourth Annual Food Truck Rally will be on Saturday, Sept. 5 . The food truck rally will take place in the Patty Center parking lot from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Fans in attendance who make a food purchase will receive free admission to any of the three volleyball matches happening that same day, including the Nanooks volleyball match at 7 p.m. against West Region opponent Fresno Pacific.
