FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Tune in to the official NCAA Rifle page on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 11:00 a.m. AKT as the Alaska Nanooks rifle team waits to see if they've qualified for the 2021 NCAA Rifle Championships.
The Nanooks enter Selection Show Tuesday with a 6-3, 2-2 PRC regular-season record and a season average of 4700.33. The 'Nooks will be having a closed-to-public viewing party, in hopes of hearing their name called after missing the 2020 NCAA Rifle Championships as a team. Kellen McAfterty was the lone-shooter for the 'Nooks to make the trip to Lexington, Ken. for the eventual canceled championships, making it as an individual shooter in smallbore.
The last NCAA Championships the Nanooks competed in was 2018-19 where they finished eighth. Alaska seeks their 11
th rifle national championship and their first since 2008.
