PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference named
Shadeed Shabazz this week's GNAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. This is Shabazz's fourth GNAC weekly honor.Â

Over the weekend, at the Ron Logsdon Challenge, hosted by Sonoma State, Shabazz averaged 26.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals. In game one, against the host school, Shabazz posted a bakers' dozen, 13 points, and added five rebounds, four steals and two assists in Alaska's first win of the season. In game two, the reigning GNAC Player of the Year returned to his full-form. He carried the Nanooks with 40 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in a 98-89 OT win over Cal State East Bay.

Shabazz posted 27 points in the second half and 10 in overtime, helping lead the pack. This was Shabazz's fifth 40-plus scoring performance in the blue and gold uniform. Over the weekend, Shabazz posted a 51.6 FG shooting percentage, an astounding 60% 3PT shooting percentage and shot 71.4% from the free-throw line.Â

Greg Sparling, "He had a slow start to the season, but we knew Shadeed would break through soon. It was fun to watch and we're proud of all he and the team accomplished over the weekend."

The Nanooks stay on the road this week and head to Anchorage for the Seawolf Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28. They'll take on Hawaii Hilo on Saturday and Quincy University on Sunday. Following their trip to Anchorage, they'll open GNAC conference play at Western Oregon and Saint Martin's on Dec. 2-4.Â
