SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Alaska Nanooks swim team moved to 4-0 on the season, their best start to a season since the program being resumed in 2005. They finish the sweep of Westmont and will next head to Los Angeles, Calif. In almost three weeks for the La Verne Invitational.
The first event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay, went to the Nanooks. Alaska's team of
Nella Pashak,
Whitney McArthur,
Sophia Ruppert and
Emma Corby took the top-spot with a time of 1:57.88.
Payton Wojciechowicz took first in the next event, putting together a 1000-yard freestyle time of 11:17.26.
Taryn Aho was the top-Nanook in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing third with a time of 2:06.88.
Shannon McCallum followed with a 50-yard freestyle, placing second with a time of 26.48.
Emma Corby got the Nanooks back in the winner's circle in the 400-yard IM. She took the win by over 15 seconds, posting a time of 4:44.13.
Sophia Ruppert followed with her own win in the 200-yard buttefly, posting a time of 2:15.50.
Lainey Lioi took second in the next event, the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 57.85. McCallum grabbed another second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke posting a time of 2:23.75. In the three final events, the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard freestyle relay, the Nanooks took first in the first and third while grabbing the runner-up position in the breaststroke. In the 500-yard freestyle,
Emma Corby took first, posting a time of 5:18.10.
Caroline McCormick took second in the 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:40.54.
In the final event at the Westmont Pool, the Nanooks won the 200-yard freestyle relay, sending a team of
Emma Corby,
Nella Pashak,
Sophia Ruppert and
Whitney McArthur to the top-spot in a time of 1:43.48.
