SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Alaska Nanooks swim team moved to 3-0 on the season for the first time since the program was resumed in 2005.
In the opening event of the meet, the Nanooks 400-yard medley relay team made up of
Nella Pashak,
Whitney McArthur,
Adeline Berry and
Emma Corby took first with a time of 4:12.25. In the second event, the 1650-yard freestyle,
Payton Wojciechowicz took third with a time of 18:35.93. The third event, the 200-yard freestyle, was won by Corby, who raced the only sub-two minute raced, finishing with a time of 1:57.36. The Nanooks took places one through five.
They repeated their dominance with places one through four in the fourth event, the 50-yard freestyle.
Nella Pashak took the win with a time of 25.49. In the fifth event,
Caroline McCormick locked up a second-place finish with a time of 2:21.61. Berry took third-place in the sixth event, the 100-yard fly, posting a time of 1:03.41, falling by less than a second. The seventh event went to
Emma Corby. She posted a 54.09 in the 100-yard freestyle Pashak took second in the eighth event, racing the 100-yard backstroke to a time of 1:05.51.
Shannon McCallum followed with her own second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, racing to a time of 5:32.45.
The final two events went the way of Alaska as
Whitney McArthur took first in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:12.46. In the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Nanooks top-team, made up of Corby,
Lainey Lioi,
Sophia Ruppert and
Whitney McArthur took first with a time of 3:45.32.
The Nanooks and Westmont are back in action at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Westmont Pool.
