Day Two Results
FAIRBANKS – The Nanooks swimming team had themselves another big performance against Nebraska Kearney at the Patty Center Pool on Saturday, Oct. 16. They finished off the Antelope with another head-to-head win, sweeping UNK on the weekend.
Another 11 events were held on day two as Alaska won all but one. The first event of the day was the 200-yard medley relay. A Nanooks relay team of
Nella Pashak,
Whitney McArthur,
Adeline Berry and
Emma Corby took first with a finals time of 1:56.81.
Payton Wojciechowicz gave the Nanooks back-to-back wins, taking first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a finals time of 11:14.85, winning by almost 12 seconds. In the third event, the 200-yard freestyle, Corby picked up an individual-win, posting a finals time of 1:58.06, winning by over seven seconds.
Pashak claimed the win in the fourth event with a time of 25.93 in the 50-yard freestyle, winning by 0.09 seconds.
Naomi Burgan continued the success for Alaska, taking their fifth-straight event in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:58.91, claiming the win by less than a half-a-second.
Sophia Ruppert took the next win for the 'Nooks, winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.63. UNK's Claire Nash broke the Nanooks win-streak, taking the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.65, beating out Pashak by 0.07 seconds.
Shannon McCallum regained the winning-way for Alaska, taking the 200-yard backstroke with a winning time of 2:20.49. Corby found another individual win in the 500-yard freestyle as the transfer posted a time of 5:22.84.
Caroline McCormick took the second-to-last event, the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:40.08, winning by 10 seconds before the Nanooks ended the weekend with a 200-yard freestyle relay win. The winning-team was made up of

Nella Pashak,
Adeline Berry and
Whitney McArthur and they posted a winning time of 1:44.74.
The Nanooks are back in action in two weeks when they hit the road for head-to-head meets with Westmont College on Oct. 29-20 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
