FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks rifle team defeated #7-ranked Air Force on Saturday, Jan. 23 by the score of 4700-4687. The win moves Alaska to 4-3, 1-2 PRC.
Alaska cracked the 4700 mark for the second time this season, this time grabbing the victory with the impressive outing.
Rylan Kissell led the way for the 'Nooks with an aggregate score of 1179, good for second overall in the individual scores.
Daniel Enger picked up a third place finish in the individual scoring with an aggregate of 1177.
Liam Eberhart was the final Nanook in the top-five with a score of 1173.
Jessica Boyce (6
th, 1171),
Marina Gonzalez Mago (9
th, 1161) and
Kellen McAferty (10
th, 1158) rounded out the top individual scoring.
In smallbore, the Nanooks shot one point better than Air Force, 2328-2327. Enger picked up the top smallbore score with a 585 on the day. Just behind, in third, was Eberhart who posted a score of 583. Kissell and Boyce followed in sixth and seventh with scores of 581 and 579 respectively. McAferty was the final squad member to finish in the top-10, posting a score of 575.
A career-high for
Rylan Kissell was the star of the air rifle standings. The freshman posted a 598 to lead the way for the 'Nooks. He shot the top air rifle score and helped Alaska claim the win in the discipline by a score of 2372-2360. Enger was the next Nanook in the standings, finishing in fourth place (592). Boyce claimed fifth with the same score.
Just outside of the top-five was Gonzalez Mago and Eberhart who took sixth and seventh with scores of 591 and 590 respectively.
The Nanooks and Air Force are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 24 at TVSA.
