FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks rifle team fell to TCU on Sunday, Jan. 17 4685-4730. This loss drops the Nanooks to 3-3, 0-2 PRC.
In smallbore, the #4-ranked Horned Frogs knocked-off the 'Nooks, 2325-2350. In air, TCU picked up the win, 2360-2380. In smallbore for Alaska,
Kellen McAferty picked up a top-three finish, shooting a 586. Next in line was
Jessica Boyce who fired a 581.
Daniel Enger (8
th, 580) and
Liam Eberhart (9
th, 578) rounded out the counting scores for Alaska.
On the air rifle side,
Rylan Kissell led the way, taking second place with a 595. Boyce, once again, took seventh place, shooting a 590. Eberhart (8
th, 588) and Enger (10
th, 587) rounded out the scoring for Alaska.
At the end of the day, Kissell was the lone-Nanook to find themselves in the top-five in the individual aggregate scores. He shot a 1172. Boyce finished in sixth with a 1171, McAferty finished in eighth (1170) and Enger rounded out the top-10 with a 1167.
The Alaska Nanooks rifle team hosts the United States Air Force Academy next weekend, shooting on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range and again on Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Tanana Valley Sportsman Association. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. AKT and no fans will be permitted.
