FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks swimming program will be hosting two fundraising events next Saturday, August 24, featuring the inaugural Water Safety Day and the Swimming Pool Party Palooza. Both events will take place at the Patty Center Pool on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus.
Water Safety Day | 10:00 a.m. AKT – 12:00 p.m. AKT
The Water Safety Day hosted by the Alaska Nanooks swim team is aimed to inform participants about general water safety, pool rules, cold water safety, ice safety, buddy safety, rescue techniques, emergency planning and responding, proper life jacket use and more.
The cost of the Water Safety Day clinic is $50 per participant, but if more than one sibling signs up, the price is reduced to $40 per participant. On-site registration is $60.

Swimming Pool Party Palooza | 2:00 p.m. AKT – 4:00 p.m. AKT
The Alaska Nanooks Swimming Pool Party Palooza will introduce kids to all four competitive swimming strokes, diving off the starting blocks, learn flip-turns and will feature a pool party at the conclusion. This event is perfect for kids that love the water and need to burn off some energy.
The cost for the Swimming Pool Party Palooza is $30 per participant.

Information for both events
- There will be certified American Red Cross water safety instructors and lifeguards on duty.
- Both clinics are open to participants ages 5-14.
- What to bring:
- Swimsuit
- Towel
- Lifejacket (if needed)
