FAIRBANKS, Alaska – On Tuesday, Alaska Nanooks women's basketball head coach Kerri Nakamoto announced the additions of Olivia Kraska and Samaiyah Tolliver, who signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Nanooks in the fall of 2019. Kraska and Tolliver are the second and third signees to join the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball program, respectively, following Alanna Conwell, who signed in December.

A native of Fairbanks, Kraska will come to the Nanooks after playing the forward position for the Lathrop High School Malemutes the past four seasons. The Malemutes went 17-10 overall throughout the 2018-19 season, going 2-2 in the Mid-Alaska 4A conference.

Throughout her career at Lathrop, the six-foot forward earned two All-Mid-Alaska Conference honors and was named to the All-Tournament team on eight occasions.

Kraska plans on majoring in Psychology when arriving on campus this fall after earning the Wendy Heisman Scholar-Athlete scholarship for next year.

"We are extremely excited to add Olivia to the Nanook roster," Nakamoto said on Tuesday. "It will be great to have a Fairbanks local on the team. She has a terrific work ethic in the classroom and on the basketball court. She brings size and a presence on the block for us and inside the paint. Olivia will be a great ambassador for the program on campus and in the community. We are excited for her to help us build a tradition of success here at UAF."

Tolliver, a native of Seattle, Washington, comes to the Nanooks after a successful career with the Garfield High School Bulldogs girl's basketball team. The 5-foot-9 guard has earned one All-Metro Second Team honor (2016-17) and two All-Metro First Team honors (2017-18, 2018-19) throughout her career.

This past season, Tolliver and the rest of the Garfield Bulldogs went 23-4 overall and 16-0 in the 3A Metro Girls Basketball conference. The Bulldogs were crowned league champions, All-Metro 3A division champions and district champions. As the captain, Tolliver averaged 20.0 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, 5.0 assists per game and 1.0 block per game.

Tolliver plans on studying Business Administration when arriving on campus this fall.

"We are also extremely happy to add Sam to the Nanook roster this fall," Nakamoto continued. "Sam will make an immediate impact for the Nanooks with her versatility and athleticism. Sam will bring defensive intensity and an ability to score and create for others. She has a great personality that will draw supporters in from campus and the Fairbanks community as women's basketball fans. We are excited for her to help us building a tradition of success here at UAF."
