MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team (0-7, 0-1 GNAC) fell to Western Oregon 82-24 on Thursday afternoon.
Tamai Mancuso led the team with six points during the contest on 3-17 shooting. Emily Freeman and Alycia Shelley both followed with five points each, with Shelley going 2-4 from the field. Freeman and Shelley also tied for the team lead in steals with three.
After being held to a free throw in the first, the 'Nooks got two baskets from Mancuso and one from Marney Rees in the second. In the final quarter, Alaska got two field goals from Shelley, and one apiece from Mancuso, Freeman and Pearle Green.
Alaska got eight points off turnovers and six fastbreak points, while scoring 14 of their points in the paint. They shot 8-60 from the field, 1-24 from three and 7-16 from the free throw line.
What's Next
The Nanooks return to action on Saturday with another GNAC contest at Saint Martin's. They take on the Saints at 2 p.m. AKST.
