PORTLAND, Ore. – On Thursday, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference named four from Alaska Nanooks women's basketball to the 2018-19 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team. Senior guard
Emily Evans, junior forward
Brittany Richards, junior forward
Kylie Wallace and senior forward
Marian Wamsley each received the conference honor.
Wallace, a native of Petersburg, Alaska, led her teammates with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average while studying social work at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, followed by Wamsley (Psychology) with a 3.80, Richards (Business Administration) with 3.75 and finally Evans (Psychology) with 3.32.
It is Wamsley's third time being named to the GNAC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team and Wallace's second.
To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher, be in their second season competing at their current institution and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better.
A total of 53 honorees were named to this year's All-Academic team, with Concordia and Saint Martin's boasting the most selections from an institution with seven honorees each.
