PORTLAND, Ore. – On Tuesday, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference named two from the Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team to the 2018-19 GNAC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team. Redshirt-sophomore
Zach Hatch and junior
Jalon McCullough each received the conference honor.
Hatch, a native of Snohomish, Washington, led the Nanook selections with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while studying business administration at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, followed by McCullough, who has earned a 3.46 GPA in communications.
It is both Hatch and McCullough's first time being named to the GNAC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team.
To qualify for the GNAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standings or higher, be in their second season competing at their current institution and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better.
A total of 29 honorees were named to this year's All-Academic Team, with Seattle Pacific boasting a program-best eight selections.
The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team hits the road this week, taking on the Central Washington Wildcats in Ellensburg, Washington on Thursday, Feb. 14 before taking on the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks on Saturday, Feb. 16. Tip-off Thursday is scheduled for 6pm AKST, while Saturday is set for 5pm AKST.
