The Nanooks kept the game tight for much of the first half with a mix of jumpers and foul shots before the Falcons were able pull away by scoring eight points in the last 3 minutes, 14 seconds of the frame. SPU went to intermission with a 34-25 lead, and maintained at least a six-point margin the rest of the game.

Alaska coach Greg Sparling said turnovers and struggles at the free-throw line were too much to overcome. Alaska players hit 64 percent of their foul shots (16-for-25) and committed a dozen turnovers, leading to 18 SPU points.
