Preliminary Results | Final Results
MONTEREY BAY, Calif. – The Alaska Nanooks swim team completed their final day of competition at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference Championships on Saturday, recording five top-10 finishes at the East Los Angeles Aquatic Center.
Junior Katie Stark was the highest-placing Nanook of the day, completing the 100-yard freestyle in 51.97 for a second place finish in the preliminary round. Stark moved on to the finals, where she posted a time of 51.54 to place third overall.
Junior Martha Hood also competed in the 100 free, placing 35th overall with a time of 55.06 in the preliminary race.
Senior Victoria Adams had a busy day in the pool, placing seventh overall in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:01.07 before posting a 12th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.19).
In the 1,650-yard freestyle race, sophomore Cassidy Heaton placed seventh with a time of 17:27.71, while sophomore Sierra Kinworthy placed 10th overall, touching out at 17:34.04.
The Nooks completed the day competing in the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing 11th overall with a time of 3:39.80. Stark, Adams and Hood were joined by senior Nga Nguyen to complete the relay team, with Stark's split time of 52.99 proving to be the fastest of her teammates.
Despite a significantly small roster, Alaska finished out the PCSC Championships ranking 11th overall with 362.5 points.
The Alaska Nanooks swim team will hope to compete in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships Mar. 8-11 at the Crossplex Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
