Preliminary Results | Final Results
MONTEREY BAY, Calif. – Three Nanoks advanced to the finals in their respected events on Friday night, as the Alaska Nanooks swim team continues their four-day competition at the Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference Championships at the East Los Angeles Aquatic Center.
Junior
Martha Hood and senior
Victoria Adams both competed in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, with both Alaskans placing in the top-10 overall. Hood posted a sixth place finish in the preliminary race with a time of 00:57.25, while Adams finished right behind her with a time of 00:57.62.
Hood and Adams advanced to the finals in the 100 back, with Hood placing third overall with a time of 00:56.87. Adams also posted another top-10 finish, ranking seventh overall with a time of 00:57.45.
Senior
Nga Nguyen was the only other Nanook to advance to the finals, after an eighth place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching out at 1:06.04. Nguyen placed seventh overall in the finals with a time of 1:06.88.
Junior
Katie Stark also recorded a top-10 finish in the preliminary race of the 200-yard freestyle, placing fourth overall with a time of 1:53.66.
The relay team consisting of Adams, Nguyen, Hood and Stark also swam in the 400-yard medley relay on Friday, finishing 10th overall with a total time of 4:06.36.
The Alaska Nanooks swim team will compete in their final day of the PCSC Championships tomorrow (Saturday), Feb. 10 at the East LA Aquatics Complex.
