MONMOUTH, Ore. – Competing at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship Meet, the Alaska Nanook men's cross country team took home a seventh-place finish, while the women finished in eighth at the Ash Creek Preserve on Saturday morning.

Kali Striker and
Dorothy O'Donnell, who finished in 34th and 35th with respective times of 22:16.79 and 22:17.70.
"Ross, Kali and Dorothy all producded personal best times at this race, so we are very excited about that," said assistant coach
Aislinn Ryan.
On the men's side, Alaska Anchorage won its fifth straight GNAC title, and had seven racers finish in the top ten, with a score of 18. Western Washington came in second with a score of 61 while Simon Fraser placed with a final tally of 87. For the women, Simon Fraser claimed its first ever conference title in the closest team race in GNAC history. Simon Fraser tallied 62 total points, while Anchorage and Western
Washington fell just short with 63 and 64 points.
Following MacDougall, the men were bunched together with four of the next scorers finishing between 43rd and 54th.
Seiji Takagi was the second Nanook to cross the finish line (43rd/26:25.27) followed closely by Michael Fehrenbach (45th/26:28.80).
Kenneth Brewer (52nd/26:52.85) and
Mitch Burgess (54th/27:02.55) were the next to finish for Alaska while
Lyon Kopsack (70th/27:43.27) and
Keegan Rankin (77th/28:48.18) rounded out the scoring.
Grace Weller was the third Nanook woman to finish, as she placed 51st with a time of 22:48.11. Nicole Bathe and
Cheyenne Greenside placed 66th and 69th, respectively, with times of 23:25.77 and 23:29.22. Rounding out the Alaska scoring was
Hannah Stevens (78th/24:44.94) and Ann-Cathrin Uhl (80th/24:50.06).
"Our top three men and women had their best performance, personally." stated Ryan. "Overall, if we can repeat or improve upon these performances, as a team, at regionals, we will do really well for ourselves."
The NCAA West Regionals are scheduled for November 22 and are hosted by Montana State Billings.
