Biography

2010-11: Klassen served as an Assistant Captain his senior season; played in all 38 games with the Nanooks; his first goal of the season was during the season opening 5-2 win against Air Force Oct. 8; first assist of the season was during the 2-1 win against Colorado College Oct. 16; finished the season with 5 goals and 6 assists; recognized for Academic Honors by the Athletic Department.

2009-10:
Played in all 38 games; named Captain; scored first goal of the season against Robert Morris on Oct. 16; had two goals in the 3-1 win against Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 17; scored first  assist on Jan. 16 against Michigan; added a goal to the Governor’s Cup series win; had seven games with at least one point, two being multi-point games.

2008-09:
Played in 38 games; earned Don Jamison Unsung Hero Award; #3 star in the Ferris State game with a goal; added an assist in the Mercyhurst College game on Oct. 17; assist against UConn. in the Kendall Classic; assist for gold in the Blue and Gold game; served as an Assistant Captain.

2007-08: Played in all but four games for the Nanooks this season; scored first Alaska goal against Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 23; grabbed first career assist, setting up fourth goal in team's 4-1 win over Northern Michigan on Nov. 30; assisted on team's opening goal in 4-2 win over Ohio State on Jan. 4...scored goal in team's 5-3 win in the opening round of the CCHA playoffs against Nebraska-Omaha; scored a goal and had seven shots in three career playoff games.

Prior to Alaska: Team Captain for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and led the team offensively with 25 goals and 33 assists in 58 games; took home several of Fort McMurray's team awards, including Top Scorer, Most Defensive, Most Dedicated and Most Valuable Player; was also selected to the AJHL North Team All-Stars where he won the fastest skater competition; during the 2005-06 season with the Oil Barons combining 16 goals and 26 assists in 60 regular season games and six goals and 10 assists in 21 AJHL playoff games; was selected to participate in the AJHL North Prospects game, and was recognized by the Oil Barons with the Unsung Hero and Coaches Award; as a rookie in 2004-05, scored 10 goals and 14 assists in 55 contests; his career with the Oil Barons was highlighted by a four-assist performance in Game 7 of the first round of the AJHL playoffs during the 2005-06 season; prior to his Junior A hockey stint, Klassen prepped at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, where he played hockey and rugby for four years; in 2004 Klassen was a team captain, the Most Dedicated Player award recipient and voted to the conference all-star team late in the season; a member of the Hounds rugby team, Klassen was a Captain, an All-Star, and the team MVP.
