PORTLAND, Ore. - Tabitha Williams of the Nanooks women's cross country team was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 8. This is Williams' first-career GNAC runner of the week honor. 

"It was a really impressive run by Tabby," said head coach Conrad Haber. "For the past few years she's been able to lock in with her teammates and use them to help her gauge her effort when racing. Leading a race for the first time from start to finish is challenging, especially against talented competitors, so this past weekend represented a big step forward in Tabby's overall development as a runner."

Williams established herself among the conference's top runners in the season's opening meet, claiming victory at the Blue & Gold meet on her home course in Fairbanks. The senior covered the 6k course in 22:24.0, finishing 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Natalie Allen of Alaska Anchorage. Williams has finished in the top half at both the GNAC and NCAA West Region Championships in each of the past two seasons, earning all-region honors twice. She also set a 6k personal best of 21:11.6 last season, placing 22nd at the NCAA West Region Championships in Monmouth, Ore.

The Nanooks cross country team continues their 2026 season with a trip to Anchorage this upcoming weekend. They face Alaska Anchorage in one more head-to-head race, the Seawolf Throwdown, after this past weekend's Blue/Gold Race.
