FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks hockey team posted an 11-0 exhibition win over the University of Mary on Friday, Sept. 25 in their return to the Carlson Center.
Alaska posted four goals in the first period, two in the second, and five in the third.
Tyler Shea started for the Nanooks in net and posted a shutout in the win, making eight saves.
Seth Fryer opened the scoring 5:36 into the first with
Joseph Serpa and
Grady Gallatin picking up the assists. 5:01 later, the Nanooks found their second with
Misha Danylov scoring his first of three.
Carson Reed and
William Fleet picked up the apples. Their lead grew to 3-0 less than three minutes later as Danylov scored again with
Max Rud and Fryer picking up the assists.
Dylan Sydor scored 1:04 later to close out the first period scoring.
Beau Courtney and Fleet assisted on Sydor's goal.
The Nanooks posted 19 shots-on-goal in the first period and kept UMary to just two.
Jack Plandowski scored just two minutes into the second period.
Taisetsu Ushio picked up the lone-assist on Plandowski's goal. With just less than three minutes left in the period, Alaska scored again, this time it was
Dean Spak. Sydor and Ushio picked up the assists on Spak's goal. Alaska entered the third up 6-0.
5;45 into the third period, Danylov scored the hat trick, making it 7-0 on
Lukas Klemm and Serpa assists. Sydor scored his second of the night just over one minute later.
Joel Lehtinen and Rud earned the assists.
Joseph Serpa scored the next two goals for the Nanooks to make it 10-0. His first came 8:15 into the third with
Jack Rogers picking up the assist. His second was on the power play and was 15:01 into the third and gave Danylov his fourth point of the night with the primary assist and
Linden Burrett his first with the secondary assist.
Zach Howard capped off the night scoring the 11th goal with .2 seconds left, an unassisted goal.
Inside the Numbers
- Tyler Shea stopped all eight shots he saw tonight. He made two saves in the first, four in the second, and two in the third.
- The Nanooks posted 53 shots-on-goal tonight. They fired 19 on goal in the first and third and 15 in the second.
- Two Nanooks finished with four points tonight. Misha Danylov finished with three goals and an assist while Joseph Serpa had two goals and two assists.
- Dylan Sydor had three points on two goals and an assist and four Nanooks finished with two points: Dean Spak, Seth Fryer, Max Rud, and Taisetsu Ushio.
- Alaska went 3-3 on the penalty kill and 1-4 on the power play.
- The Nanooks blocked nine shots tonight. Beau Courtney, Carson Reed, and Max Rud each had two to lead Alaska.
- Dean Spak won eight of 13 faceoffs tonight. Joel Lehtinen won eight of 14. Alaska went 36-22 on the dot, winning 62.1% of the draws.

The Nanooks host Mount Royal University tomorrow at 7:07 p.m. MRU fell to Alaska Anchorage in a shootout tonight in Anchorage. Fans 12-and-under get in free for Junior Nooks Night.
