Alaska Skates Past Alaska Anchorage in Return to Sullivan Arena

ANCHORAGE - The Nanooks hockey team picked up a 4-1 win over Alaska Anchorage in game three of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup. With the win, the Nanooks are 2-0-1 against their in-state rivals and hold a 7-2 points advantage through three games.

How it Happened
The Nanooks opened the scoring up in the first period on a Tommy Cronin goal. Caelum Dick dished the puck to Noah Barlage in the Nanooks defensive zone before snapping an up-ice pass to Cronin near the slot. The rookie turned and put a wristshot past UAA netminder Tyler Krivtsov to make it 1-0 6:41 into the first. That score lasted until the 4:50 mark of the second period when Alexander Malinowski extended the lead to 2-0. Cade Ahrenholz intercepted an errant pass by UAA and Malinowski fired a shot from the faceoff circle to the right of Krivtsov for the goal.

UAA would get one back as Luke Johnson beat Lassi Lehti on a breakaway opportunity, cutting the lead in half 17:37 into the second.

In the third, while on the power play, Michael Citara scored the third goal for Alaska. His goal came 4:23 into the final period. Down the stretch, Alaska added one more. Jhett Larson knocked the puck off of a UAA stick and tracked it down ice, scoring the unassisted empty-netter to make it a 4-1 victory for the Blue and Gold.
